Early 2000 Karin Locatelli visited the Lötschental Valley and fell in love with the Lauchernalp. Having lived in many beautiful and bustling places in Europe (Düsseldorf, Paris, Côte d’Azur, Lugano), the stunning natural beauty and pristine Alpine living made her decide to build her dream chalet on the Lauchernalp. In 2003 the Chalet Virtus was realized. This extraordinary ski-in ski-out chalet located directly on the main piste has been her private residence for many months per year ever since. Together with her late partner Mario, Karin developed more then 25 chalets for Swiss and international clients, followed by the first apartment hotel building in which 12 spacious apartments and penthouses have been realised. Unfortunately the subsequently planned apartment buildings were not realized due to the passing of Mario.

In 2020 Karin and her new husband Carlo, decided to reinvigorate the next phase of their Lauchernalp plans. Having invested over two decades in local relationships and having secured the building land, it was now time to find a new business partner to continue the legacy.

The Mulders family, Tom & Tessa, have been investing and developing real estate for 20 years, next to building out an international career in banking and internet technology. After a successful start in Amsterdam, they called Silicon Valley their home for 7 years, before moving to Oberägeri in Switzerland. 

The Mulders and Locatelli families met in 2021 and quickly aligned on shared life values and business principles, and decided to team up. In the next years to come, the focus will be on: Developing with quality, sustainability, and a deep appreciation for local relations, while preserving the existing culture of the Lötschental Valley and respecting the unique UNESCO world heritage environment.

Together they have since founded Lauchernalp Resort AG, a continuation of the dream that started all those years ago: the development of the next phase of the Lauchernalp Resort Residences, offering Swiss and International clients access to unique alpine living, with style and comfort.
